About Bayou Recovery Project

Rebuilding Lives, Restoring Hope

Organized immediately after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, we emerged from devastation to provide immediate assistance to our community when they needed it most. A 501-c3 charitable organization, we’ve been serving the resilient community of Bayou La Batre, Alabama providing essential support through meals, clothing, shelter, and spiritual guidance to those affected by Hurricane Katrina and ongoing environmental and financial challenges.

Dedicated to service

Now serving for over two decades, 100% of all donations made to Bayou Recovery Project go to those in need. There are absolutely no administrative fees, which translates to countless lives touched by our work. Guided by the Hemley Road Church of Christ in Bayou La Batre, we’re dedicated to living our faith through action, serving both physical and spiritual needs. What began as hurricane relief continues today, addressing ongoing challenges from environmental disasters and economic hardships in our coastal community.

Bayou Recovery Project

Our work will never be complete. As long as there is a need, we will continue to provide assistance to all who need help.
